Once you’ve worked your way through shooting with multiple styles of handguns and types of holsters, you’ll likely discover your own preferences for cant and what position you carry in. For many shooters, the cross draw position is preferred, but don’t fool yourself into thinking you can buy any holster when you use a cross draw.
We’ve put together this list of the four best cross draw holsters, and we’ll let you know at the end of the review which style and brand we think is the best option for most buyers.
We created a broad search for this review because we wanted to cover multiple styles of holsters that would work well with a cross draw. If you’re not interested in a belly band, standard IWB holsters, or fun OWB holsters, you can look into shoulder holsters or ankle holsters as well. We also wanted to keep the range of costs decently low, so everyone can find something they would like.
Whether you’re in need of the most discrete concealed carry holster, a holster that’s big on comfort, or you’re just looking to add to your collection of high quality holsters, we’ve covered most everyday needs in this review.
AlphaHolster Belly Band Gun Holster with Dual Magazine Pouch
Materials â€" The AlphaHolster Belly Band Gun Holster is made entirely of a ventilated elastic, which wraps around the abdomen and secures in the front with a Velcro closure. There are four pockets: one on each side for your small to medium firearm in the cross draw position and two magazine pouches. All of the pockets are made of the ventilated elastic, so your weapon and ammo stays snug and close to the body, without becoming uncomfortable. It can also be worn with your firearm on your dominant side, if you end up changing your mind on a cross draw. Sizes range from small to XXX-L, and they come in black, beige, or white.
Performance â€" The confidence that your firearm is secure and with you all day is a great feeling that comes in a wraparound crossdraw holster. The AlphaHolster Belly Band Gun Holster is an affordable and comfortable product that does exactly what it needs to. The good news too is that your concealed carry stays hidden under a shirt without showing through. We’ll admit that sometimes this belly band can ride up your torso a bit or fold at the ends when you bend over. A little adjustment here and there is a quick solution, which isn’t a big deal. We have no complaints about how well the elastic held our firearms and magazines.
What we say â€" The AlphaHolster Belly Band Gun Holster is the cheapest option within this review, costing only $16 online. This is a great buy for anyone on a budget, and it works as both a cross draw and a straight style holster.
Pros
- Very cheap
- Range of size and colors
- Stretchy material and comfortable
- Cross draw or straight style
Cons
- May need adjustment throughout day

Barsony Nylon Gun Inside The Waistband Holster for Compact-Subcompact
Materials â€" The Barsony Nylon Gun Inside the Waistband Holster is made of highest quality Cordura Nylon and precision stitching. The inside is a soft suede-like material that assists in a smooth draw and re-holstering. There is reinforced stitching around the top and side of the holster to also aid in guiding your weapon. A strong steel clip is supported by a premium leather backing. The Barsony Nylon Gun Inside the Waistband Holster fits over forty concealed carry firearms, and can be purchased as left or right handed. Directions are included in the product description to aid in which hand you should purchase for either cross draw, small of the back, and strongside carries.
Performance â€" The Barsony Nylon Gun Inside the Waistband Holster is one of the best cross draw holsters for concealed carry. The stitching around the trigger guard and the reinforced stitching at the top of the holster are just enough to guide your gun without interfering in a fast draw. If you own a compact gun, Barsony has a holster for you. The metal clip is very durable, and it holds the holster well in place. The only thing is the shooter won’t be able to adjust cant, so the holster will be in a straight position, no matter which side of the body it’s on. For some, that may be a problem, but this isn’t a deal breaker for us. We still stand behind this option.
What we say â€" The Barsony Nylon Gun Inside the Waistband Holster costs a little under $20 online, which makes this another low priced option. This holster is comfortable, sturdy, and is stitched nicely.
Pros
- Low price
- Made of thick Nylon
- Strong steel clip
- Can be worn as cross draw, strongside, or small of back
Comp-Tac International Holster
Materials â€" The Comp-Tac International Holster is a basic but effective outside the waistband cross draw holster. It is made entirely of durable Kydex and is made with a modular mounting system. It can be worn as a belt holster, belt offset holster, paddle holster, or paddle offset holster. Besides the ability to be worn in the cross draw position, it can also be worn on the dominant side with a straight cant or FBI cant. The Comp-Tac International Holster comes with two retention screws so the wearer can adjust it to their perfect level.
Performance â€" This cross draw holster certainly isn’t anything flashy, but the Comp-Tac International Holster is one of the best cross draw holsters for competitions or practice in the field. In fact, this holster is also IDPA legal (in certain configurations). While it’s obviously not the best for concealment or comfort, the durable Kydex material will maintain a tough barrier from exterior elements. We love the adjustability with the retention, so gunowners can modify their holster to create the perfect draw and holstering. There’s also a lot of versatility to allow for adjustments in cants and how the holster is worn. The only complaint we can make is that the Comp-Tac International Holster is the most expensive option within this review.
What we say â€" The Comp-Tac International Holster costs about $65 online, but the price can vary, based on the type of gun you purchase it for. For Glocks, you can expect to pay this price. Although standard and basic, this is a holster that performs very well.
Pros
- Made of durable Kydex
- Multiple cants and positions
- IDPA legal
- Fit for almost every pistol
Cons
- Most expensive option
DeSantis Sky Cop Holster
Materials â€" For the more serious buyer, the DeSantis Sky Cop Holster for Glock 19/26 is made of a premium saddle grade leather that has been molded for the shape of Glocks. Both the top of the holster and around the trigger guard are reinforced with thicker leather and strong stitching. There is also a retention screw that is adjustable. This Glock cross draw holster fits belts up to one and a half inches wide with a strong metal clip. It comes in black, and it can be purchased in either left hand or right hand.
Performance â€" The DeSantis Sky Cop Holster for Glock 19/26 is also on our list as one of the best cross draw concealed holsters on the market. This is the holster with the highest quality material in this review, and the molding is outstanding. The reinforced stitching is also of very high quality, and you can trust your Glock won’t budge a millimeter while you’re wearing it. Its, altogether, a very beautiful holster that performs as well as a holster can. It’s the most expensive option within this review, but we never got close to the $100 mark with any of our choices.
What we say â€" The DeSantis Sky Cop Holster for Glock 19/26 costs just under $60 online. You can, of course, find this cross draw holster for other pistols online, so don’t think you’re at a loss if you don’t have a Glock!
Pros
- Premium saddle grade leather
- High end stitching and reinforcement
- Detailed molding
- Retention screw
Cons
- Most expensive option
Our Favorite Cross Draw Holster
It was a little difficult to agree on our top pick for the best cross draw holster we can recommend, since each option we reviewed is a different style. Ultimately, we finally decided on the DeSantis Sky Cop Holster. No matter what type of concealed carry firearm you carry, you should look into this holster. With it only costing around $60 to buy, you get a really well made holster that’s composed of top quality grade leather, precision stitching, and a protective barrier between your weapon and exterior elements. This is also the style of holster we would assume the majority of buyers are looking for. While a Western style revolver holster sounds like a lot of fun, most gunowners are probably looking for something a little more commonplace for their cross draw needs. We can absolutely suggest buying the DeSantis Sky Cop Holster.
